Imagine…Being blessed with good physical health, a spirit of determination and being the best you can at everything you do.
Imagine…Going to work each day, at a job you enjoyed where your abilities were used and respected, now unable to return.
Imagine…Going out for an afternoon of enjoyment only to find later you had an awful and life changing motorcycle crash.
Imagine…Not understanding just what went wrong, you’re experienced, careful and now in this frightening state as your body is unresponsive resting on the ground.
Imagine…Your wife hovering over you with fear in her eyes as others surrounded you and do not understanding all these strange voices talking about you.
Imagine…Being taken to a hospital specializing in traumatic brain injuries (TBI) in a medical helicopter.
Imagine…Waking up days later in a strange place full of uncertainties, with the only thing familiar is your wife at your side.
Imagine…Your body almost motionless, your brain barely functioning and you are required to participate in tasks unfamiliar and difficult.
Imagine…Months later doing well in rehab after such hard work, only to find yourself again in the hospital due to what is said a most unusual stroke.
Imagine…What your wife felt when a team of neurologists had a grim prognosis, yet she dismissed them stating “God did not bring my husband back from a terrible TBI to a recovery point of mowing our lawn, for you to tell me this – Jim will get better-you’ll see!”
Imagine…Having to fight to get up, to move, to see, to speak to even think, wondering how long rehabilitation is going to take this time.
Imagine…Being told your marriage won’t survive beyond a year or two, they seldom do in these situations and your home, well you’ll most likely loose that too per history statistics.
Imagine…A wife who is not willing to give up, who gives daily reminders to trust the Lord, wait with endurance, because nothing is impossible with God.
Imagine…After two years and counting, compound afflictions to your head and unrelenting treatments, appreciating Gods hand is upon you constantly.
Imagine…You persevere; you recover, you are transformed into a new person, something that will take faith and time – something we must be grateful for.
Imagine…Living through your adversity without the Lord God along side you? I couldn’t imagine that – can you?
